Take part in the class debate. Are you for or against cloning? Give reasons and arguments to support your point of view. Start with commenting on other students' ideas. Use linking words.
The idea of cloning has always stirred fervent debate. Some say it’s immoral and unethical, others agree that it’s a great breakthrough in medical science. Many people are in need of tissues and organs for transplantation. But it isn't easy to get such organs as, for example, heart, liver or kidneys. Cloning can solve this problem. Many animals are on the brink of extinction. Cloning can be used to preserve them. The question of human cloning is even more controversial. Suppose we cloned a man. Are we really sure he will be a man? Who will be responsible for him? Who will bring him up? Will he be happy? Will he have the same rights as we have? What would happen if a dictator, someone like Hitler, cloned himself? Would we be able to survive? There is also an insoluble dilemma whether these cloned people will have the same rights as ordinary people or not. To my mind, any theory needs practice, so I think that it is obligatory to do experiments, and then to make conclusions Nevertheless, the idea of human cloning seems very exciting.
I can say that i against cloning. On the scientific side, we see that a large percentage of cloning efforts end in failure. For example, it took hundreds of attempts to clone Dolly the sheep. Often clones don't live as long as sexually reproduced animals, possibly because the genes taken from adults are more likely to have undergone mutations. On the practical side, it is far easier to reproduce naturally than to create individuals through cloning. And it is more practical to have a child within the context of marriage and a family than in a laboratory. There is no proof that someone who is genetically identical to Albert Einstein, for example, would be a genius or would use his genius for socially acceptable ends. Environment could turn an Einstein clone into another Adolf Hitler. That is all)
Well, cloning is a big breakthrough in medicine and science, with its help you can conquer incurable diseases. In addition, people should have a backup version of their own kind in order to protect the population from extinction in the event of some kind of all-planet tragedy. The ability to clone outstanding personalities is a unique perspective for humanity. Cloning is necessary for families who have lost a loved one, as well as childless couples, to bring up a child, similar to at least one of the spouses. Mankind, unfortunately, is becoming weaker in biological terms and in urgent need of help, otherwise one day we will face the biological catastrophe. Cloning can help us in that case. But there are a lot of disadvantages too. Behind these experiences is the aspiration of the rich. If clone people are raised for the egoistic desire of another person to give themselves a second, third, hundredth life, then a deep moral crisis will arise. Also scientists have a questions: "Can a cloned child live in a society?", "Is society ready to accept clone people into its ranks?" Nobody knows. Cloned people are people without a motherland, parents, etc.; they are perfect for cruel aims and desires. Although cloning is a great progress. each person is unique, both from the biological point of view, and from the philosophical point of view. The creation of another person with the same genetic code would violate human dignity. Cloning would reduce genetic diversity, making us more vulnerable to epidemics. Because of all these contradicting facts, I cannot make that huge decision. But I'm sure, scientists will find a solution.
About cloning it is possible to argue from two parties. First it is possible to clone people for the purpose of organ transplantation, but we can't know for certain whether these people the same persons will be. Also we can clone animals whom we eat to reduce that quantity of real animals whom we kill. Also we will be able to clone the died people to reduce pain human. But from minuses the fact that whether we know precisely successful there will be experiments. And also I consider that it isn't correct because the person himself does himself by the creator, it isn't correct.

ReplyDeleteNevertheless, the idea of human cloning seems very exciting.
Good points, Yura. I support your awareness of the possibility of cloning bad leaders.
